We all know how difficult it is to function without a good nights sleep. Babies are known for their erratic sleep, but they need much more of it than adults do!
Good sleep is essential for all of us, and babies especially. Poor sleep can lead to all kinds of problems, including binge eating, lost memories, anger, and even cerebral shrinkage.
The emotional and physical effects of sleep deprivation range from the mild ones we all feel after a bad night – being clumsy, having headaches, and craving sugar, to more serious ones like depression, anxiety and ill health.
Think about it this way: we model the behaviors we’d like to see in our children – from a good work ethic to healthy eating habits! Sleep is no different; we’re giving our children the tools and ability to sleep well by themselves. While it sounds dauting, it’s generally easily achievable, and can be life-changing.
